Soul Brew Coffee, established in 2016 operates three Cafes in Vadodara, sourcing & roasting Indian 🇮🇳 Arabica Coffee for its own outlets as well as home brewers & wholesale clients.

DESIGn REQUIREMENT

The design requirement was to design a website which spoke about the coffee they brewed and their cafes.

ELLAM Under The Sun makes its debut on 30th December 2025 at the Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM) Campus, Kalamassery, bringing together over 50 indie creatives across music, performance, workshops, and immersive experiences.

Brought to you by @kochipazheykochiyalla Kochi Pazhey Kochiyalla, powered by @hauzbyshunya Hauz by Shunya and supported by Mathrubhumi @mathrubhumidotcom and Kerala Startup Mission, the festival is curated and directed by Kritika Kaul, along with a core team with @joeleee___ Joel Simon Alex, @aiswarya_sasiii Aiswarya Shashi, @acoustic_aniki Ashan Ameer and @humiddragonslayer Dan K George.

A key highlight is Aksomaniac Live, returning home to the main stage. With PLUR Mission @plurmission as Community Partner, Whatsaround Kochi as Ticketing Partner, and Kappa, @clubfmonair Club FM, and Reel Tribe as Promotions & Content Partners, ELLAM invites everyone into a creative revolution—where makers, audiences, and communities come together to imagine, create, and celebrate independent culture under one vibrant sun.

This video was taken in October 2024: I’m sharing this as an ode to myself from last year, who even despite suggesting from depression and burn out wanted to talk and share about it for someone who might need it. To a person who was feeling so disabled and lost to someone who was able to find the reigns of life and a new vision completely. I’m proud of myself to have had the courage to face transformation each day and handle myself with grace and protect and nurture everything I’ve built for myself and those around me in the last couple of years.

Even after having suffered depression twice in the last 9 years, I still believe that Depression is a superpower. The first time in 2016, when I was so much younger, I was lost and staggered but still eventually designed one of my best projects and even now, the aftermath of depression and burn out in 2024 gave me the force to eventually refine the vision of Shunya Design Company and give birth to Hauz by Shunya.

Healing is a constant and ongoing journey but depression is a wake up call to do the work you’ve been procrastinating, refine and question the healing you’ve been doing. It is a wake up call to clean your mind and fuel it right for the good stuff ahead that needs you to be your best version.

And for the time you’re going through it, protect your ecosystem and your loved ones from your depression coz it is eventually going to fleet away but don’t let it cause more damage. Always grateful to @conversations_with_dr.sunny to have helped me do that and help myself decide my patterns and come with sustainable strategies to help my mind.

After I decided to lean my design practice at @shunyadesigncompany to independent design and branding consulting, I missed the thought of building and having fun with a community.

House or Haus were too functional and concrete as entities to have built such a community/communities under, ‘Hauz’ means a reservoir where people come around to fill in their buckets of joy and thereby getting to know one another extending themselves to forming like minded communities.

Having run @kochipazheykochiyalla for 4 years in Kochi, made me realise how Kochi could use such safe and creative getaways, all one needed to do was just push them through!

Well with @hauzbyshunya that’s all I try to do everyday, push forth and push hard, creating rich, intimate, BRINGING PEOPLE TOGETHER and creative collaborative experiences that actually pull people into the limelight, share their talent, have fun AND MAKE NEW FRIENDS!!(After-all how much can you use ‘drinking’ as the excuse to socialise!)

It’s been super overwhelming, but each such event makes me feel it’s absolutely worth it!

This is year Onam hit different! On the journey I’ve lately been on with @hauzbyshunya , has helped me make peace with the blended identity I have, the individual I am, with the flavours of multiple cultures. And with this came the idea of ‘Own-am’. Rather than trying to fit into the conventional idea of what a typical Onam in Kerala is, I wanted everyone to just take this as an opportunity to come together, have fun and create some cool stuff.

Especially while nurturing a community space it is extremely essential for us all to own who we are as individuals, own our identity, our narrative, our style and offcourse, OUR CELEBRATIONS!

When it’s time to start channelising the mess!

IT IS AN ABSOLUTE HONOUR to be living in this body, I’m SO PROUD of myself today!

After 7 years, I finally have all my screws(atleast the ones I could’ve gotten removed🙈) AND STITCHES removed!

Whatta journey of having had 7 surgeries across my knees and ankle (and ya they took a chip of the bone from my pelvis!)

Just coz 1 simple diagnosis went wrong in 2018, followed by a simple knee ligament surgery that ALSO went wrong with the screw having dug up a 15MM TUNNEL IN MY BONE that led to immobility and fear of movement for years ahead…

I started Shunya Design Company in Feb 2022, and boom in April I woke up with both my knees locked.

Life has never been the same after. I just grew stronger and more stubborn! I believed that all I needed, was my brain and my hands to be working to achieve all that I wanted to, for myself and everyone who was expecting ‘magic’ out of Kritika Kaul at the most crucial juncture of my life and that of Shunya!

For someone who loved to dance and jump around, it was as though I was punished to just be at one place and dissolve myself in every life introspection that was possible, and well, we all know where that goes…

I don’t think any words can describe THE PAIN I’ve been carrying for all these years, moving from one doctor to another, one hospital to the other, Ayurveda, allopathy, surgeries, physiotherapy. Seeing your body immobile, pushing through excruciating pain both physically AND EMOTIONALLY, and being the stimulus to raise your own body and mojo, despite being stitched up across! As a woman seeing my body have scars and marks all over had been killing me and deteriorating my self esteem. For months, I was ashamed and embarrassed, conscious… awkward about this very body and self…

For months at stretch, I would have to plan my every move, whether with my crutches, walker or even my wheelchair.

Well, I could go on and the fear of mobility continues to stay too and might even for years ahead but all I’ve figured in all this is that, YOU GOTTA KEEP MOVING AND DANCING(Just gotta modulate your ways and techniques through it all)

And that’s why I say, YOU GOT THIS!

Throwback to one of the best solo getaways!

Without having planned anything at all, I hopped onto a car headed to Vagamon with just a backpack and the craving for a break. Not wanting to go for the typical resorts or fancy set ups like before(coz offcourse I’ve been swamped with my second venture🙈💪🏻!), I thought I’d go for a hostel or a more cost effective stay…

Which got me to googling my options and hitting a JACKPOT OF AN EXPERIENCE with @_tentlife_ ! Serene, Sustainable and Inspiring! From the point of how thoughtfully each and everything has been designed, whether the hygiene systems, the alignment of the tents to make sure everyone is together and still enjoys their privacy to how comfortable the very tents are. The space opens up to outlets of streams and trails which you can explore on your own. They’ve respected the natural ecosystem while creating a sustainable and safe ecosystem for individuals to come, unwind and rejuvenate!

AND OFFCOURSE THE NATURAL POOL!! 🏊‍♀️ Omg! I’m still in absolute awe of how well it’s been designed using the running stream, no chlorine and running water, @balujames pulled a genius there! And offcourse such a lovely opportunity to make new friends like @chako_chen and @rajnish___chandran , the experience was wholesome!
